Flame Stop III fire retardant is for interior use. This fire retardant is added to latex paints to create a self extinguishing reaction. It has a class A fire rating when paint is applied to drywall. But when the paint is applied on wood is has a class B fire rating. Because it does not require a seal coat or pre-coat, it makes Flame Stop III unique from other fire retardants. In addition it contains mold and mildew inhibitors, which are effective against black mold.
One pint of Flame Stop III can be added to one gallon of most latex paints. Due to variances in paints, it is recommended that a test be performed before utilizing a gallon of latex-based paint. The additive is colorless and odorless and can extended paint up to three pints. The customer can add up to two pints of water to arrive at an acceptable viscosity. As a result Flame Stop III is also considered a paint extender. Since it is not a pre mixed paint, it can be added to an unlimited selections of color and paint brands.
Suncoast Tiki Huts fire retardant products are non toxic. While other fire retardant products that you may come across have formaldehyde in them. Flame Stop III is a water based fire retardant. Therefore there is no need to worry about breathing it in as you work with it. There are no fumes and it is safe to work with and touch.
